As an Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, Dan began prosecuting child sex crimes. He was then transferred to the Trial Assistance and Sexually Violent Persons Bureau (SVP Bureau), where he led jury trials in many serious criminal offenses.

His SVP Bureau work also involved seeking civil commitment of those sex offenders who were about to be released from prison — a highly specialized area of law requiring deep legal expertise and courtroom composure.
